It is very important to understand how the Hay Diet works so whilst doing the Hay Diet there are two things you must remember. 

  • Your body digests protein and carbohydrates differently

  • In digestion, some foods form acid and some foods form alkaline

By not mixing your proteins and carbohydrates at any one meal and also having the correct balance of acid and alkaline forming foods in your daily diet, will provide you with great health benefits.


If you have never followed the Hay Diet before I would suggest first spend some time not mixing proteins and carbohydrates before considering which foods are acid and alkaline forming.
